I have gone there for years and this was the worst time. I paid for the rv hookup plus fishing. This time no fish not even a bite,we usually catch around 20 or less a day and nothing. They over charged my sister just to park outside the camp. Last time I go. The lady up front was also very rude. Too expensive for them to treat us so rude.
Pluses: Pretty campgrounds. Lots of port-a-potties around. The bathrooms and showers were decent with plenty of hot water.
Clean restroom and shower area. When we arrived an employee immediately greeted us and jotted down the information we would need to check in. We enjoyed our stay. It was crowded and very full on Saturday. Sunday there were a lot less people. Bring your own wood for campfire, or pay too much for it at the office. There are some picnic tables but not enough, better to bring your own.
We love camping....and our glad they updated their shower and bathroom facilities but COME ON texmexicans can you not camp anywhere in the other direction besides coming to New Mexico. My god. I call Silver Lake little Juarez now because there's been times were camping and the fiesta is going on throughout the entire night!!! No one speaks English! Just uugghhh!!!
Interested in checking out the lake and campgrounds as a weekend getaway but they don't even let you walk to look without paying $15 drive through fee. Disrespectful guy at the entrance and an unwelcoming attitude. No thanks. We'll find a different place as our weekend get-away...
Cons: The lady at the front is extremely rude and has zero customer service skills. The showers had cheap see-thru shower curtains that were ripped at the hooks. You have to have your own firewood because they don't allow you gather or burn anything from the campground. The tiny bundles they sell are way overpriced. The "lake" is a really just a big pond that had trash thrown around it. It's tribal land so state fishing licences aren't honored, you have to buy one from them. No hiking trails attached to the campground do you have to leave the site if you want to do any hiking.
